RECIPE – PIZZA BITES
Pizza Bread Bites
Ingredients
- 1 loaf day-old bread, bread rolls or breadsticks, sliced (from Davian Bakery)
- 1 cup tomato passata (Coles Supermarkets)
- 1 garlic clove, crushed
- Pinch of salt
- Pinch of sugar
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
Topping Ideas
- Mozzarella or grated cheese (Coles Supermarkets)
- Anchovies
- Olives
- Ham (Nicholas & Co Butchery)
- Shredded chicken
- Fresh basil
- Salami (Nicholas & Co Butchery)
- Mushrooms
- Capsicum
- Any of your favourite pizza toppings
Method
- Preheat the oven to 200°C fan-forced.
- Slice the bread, rolls or breadsticks into bite-sized pieces and place onto a lined baking tray.
- In a bowl, combine the passata, crushed garlic, salt, sugar, oregano and olive oil.
- Spoon a little of the passata mixture onto each piece of bread.
- Top with cheese and your favourite pizza toppings.
- Bake for 10 to 15 minutes, or until the bread is golden and crispy and the cheese is bubbling.
- Serve immediately.
Perfect as an after-school snack, easy entertaining platter or a quick appetiser when friends drop by.
