Pizza Bread Bites

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf day-old bread, bread rolls or breadsticks, sliced (from Davian Bakery)
  • 1 cup tomato passata (Coles Supermarkets)
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of sugar
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

Topping Ideas

  • Mozzarella or grated cheese (Coles Supermarkets)
  • Anchovies
  • Olives
  • Ham (Nicholas & Co Butchery)
  • Shredded chicken 
  • Fresh basil
  • Salami (Nicholas & Co Butchery)
  • Mushrooms
  • Capsicum
  • Any of your favourite pizza toppings

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C fan-forced.
  2. Slice the bread, rolls or breadsticks into bite-sized pieces and place onto a lined baking tray.
  3. In a bowl, combine the passata, crushed garlic, salt, sugar, oregano and olive oil.
  4. Spoon a little of the passata mixture onto each piece of bread.
  5. Top with cheese and your favourite pizza toppings.
  6. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes, or until the bread is golden and crispy and the cheese is bubbling.
  7. Serve immediately.

Perfect as an after-school snack, easy entertaining platter or a quick appetiser when friends drop by.
